  • "I really appreciate the way the course is structured, and the access to one on one and more intimate instruction. I know that working that closely with students requires a lot of energy and focus from both of you, and I appreciate the way you gave so generously.Strength through expansion' is my new motto and I endeavor to apply it to all areas/relationships in my life. Not only was my body stretched, but my mind and soul." Laura Phillips. Peak Faculty, Houston

    Programme overview:

This course will bring an additional perspective to your Pilates experience, offering another layer of understanding to the original teachings of Contrology. You will discover that working within the fascial paradigm aligns with the Pilates methodology. You will embody new skills to empower your teaching to be trasnformative and healing.

This Pilates Bridge programme will shed new light on the principles of Joseph Pilates' work and its capacity for physical, physiological and psychological transformation.

The Pilates Studio is an environment to which your fascia responds. By consciously and intentionally using the apparatus with neuromyofascial awareness, you created profound and sustained movement and habitual change.

Bridge to CPM is taught in small groups to ensure a personalised learning environment.

    • Learn the original Studio repertoire from a fascia perspective
    • Learn to use the repertoire to inform the fascia and how to connect to the fascial meridians to better understand and enable the repertoire.
    • Learn to use Anatomy Trains map as a guide to the neuromyo fascial body.
    • Observe session demonstrations with clients.
    • Observe the full repertoire demonstrated in the Lecture Series

    Karin Locher

For over 17 years Karin Locher has been building on her quest to understand and explore the phenomena of the ‘vital force’ (and lack of) that determines both our health and performance. With the new insights coming from the recovering research of Fascia and with Thomas Myers' revolutionary Anatomy Trains she created a pioneering new application for Spatial Medicine: 'Changing movement, mind and structural-relationships to change the person.'

Karin’s long standing fascination with the vital force, or lack of, is changing people and changing lives - a methodology that influences to re-store and re-set the neuro-myo-fascial system, thus enabling the body to do what it does best, keep us well. The result is Spatial Medicine. A medicine she believes is far more appropriate for the 21st century symptoms and syndromes that we are seeing.

    Fiona McIntosh

Born and educated in London, Fiona was a keen gymnast and dancer from early childhood, and studied jazz into her twenties as well as practicing yoga. Her other passion was books and she worked in publishing before re-connecting with her initial passion of movement. It was in 2004 that she became a client at Karin Locher’s studio and her thirst for knowledge led her to first study with Body Control (Certified in 2005) and then with Polestar Education (Studio Certified in 2007) and then with CPM Education (certified in 2008).

In 2010 Fiona became a full-time pilates teacher working from Karin Locher’s studio. She continued her education and knowledge of the fascial communication system attending courses with Steven Goldstein (integrated fascial release), Ann and Chris Frederick (Fascial Stretch Therapy), Robert Schleip, Tom E Myers’ Anatomy Trains, Peter E Levine (somatic experiencing) and Emilie Conrad (continiuum). She is now Director of two studios, The Pilates Team in Hertfordshire and The Santosha Studio in Wiltshire. She is PMA certified and a senior faculty teacher with Cenrtre for Spatial Medicine. She is also studying with senior teacher Claire Murphy to become a yoga teacher, she practices Inidra meditation and consistently continues her Spatial Medicine education.

Fiona has spent years watching her body and her spirit change through her movement practice, initially to come out of pain but ultimately she has given herself space to breathe and just "to be” and she passionately shares that journey with others; clients, other teachers and students to enable them on their own journey.
