A FREE pre-workshop talk: What is Fascia?
This pre–workshop extra is for those not so familiar with the concept of Fascia. These two hours will get you up to speed on what Fascia is, what role it plays in the body and how it influences functionality, form and well-being.
Friday 7 June 17.00-19.00
Presenter: Karin Locher
Communicating with Fascia
"The quality of instructions and information was excellent, allowing me to understand how I can incorporate these ways into my osteopathic practice. A brilliant workshop."
Malcolm Gregory, Osteopathic Health Centre, Dubai
Open to body and mind orientated professionals wanting to incorporate updated research and application of fascia in their work. This work is a rehabilitation (re-able-habitation) at its deepest level.
The workshop brings you the latest 2018 research and understanding of fascia, the influence of vibrational stimuli, new findings of the cardio-fascia system and the coherence phenomena.
Using the stimuli of vibration this next level information brings you advanced Spatial Medicine applications to effect specific and targeted tissue, function and systemic change.
The workshop is experiential – you learn through your experience, and then apply and infuse into your professional field.
What it will cover:
Fascia, the latest research on the role and function of the largest organ of the body and how we can affect it to affect us.
Chaos, order or adaptability: Can we be at ease with chaos or do we search for the comfort of a Newtonian order? If we replace the idea of order with the idea of adaption, using structural order as a means to guide us into the chaos, we can observe from another perspective and look to build a quality and efficiency of adaptability to enhance a resilience to life’s stimuli and circumstance. Life will always throw us cards – but are we able to stay above them and see beyond.
The Heart. ‘The health of the body depends almost totally on the heart’ said Andrew Taylor Still. When the myo-cardiac fascia is disfunctional it alters posture and movement function. The ‘cardio -postural’ relationship needs therefore to be considered in structural disorders and postural problems.
Applications will be given to notice any disfunction in the myo- cardiac fascia and the heart’s spiral dynamic to facilitate a fluid connection to and from the limbs to ease gait and movement, increase breath capacity, and affect pelvic function.
Why Choose This Workshop?
Fascia is responding to everything that we do and think, our emotional body and how we react and live in our world; to the habits, mind-set and compensations that we operate under both consciously and unconsciously every day. It does not differentiate between a negative or positive action, it is simply wired to respond.
Learn to understand why and how this ongoing fascial response mechanism creates the physical limitations and conditions that we are living with today. Learn advanced hands on applications to reset the neuro-myo-fascial system supporting long-term physiological and psychological change.
Saturday 8 June, Sunday 9 June 10.00 – 18.00
For over 17 years Karin Locher has been building on her quest to understand and explore the phenomena of the ‘vital force’ (and lack of) that determines both our health and performance. With the new insights coming from the recovering research of Fascia and with Thomas Myers' revolutionary Anatomy Trains she created a pioneering new application for Spatial Medicine: 'Changing movement, mind and structural-relationships to change the person.'
Karin’s long standing fascination with the vital force, or lack of, is changing people and changing lives - a methodology that influences to re-store and re-set the neuro-myo-fascial system, thus enabling the body to do what it does best, keep us well. The result is Spatial Medicine. A medicine she believes is far more appropriate for the 21st century symptoms and syndromes that we are seeing.
Sean’s passion is working and re-educating your body to change your life. He is a body and mind training coach, founder of the Integrated Body, and valid faculty teacher for Centre for Spatial Medicine. Unique in his restorative fascial movement and strength training, he is also a Structural Integration body worker (Anatomy Trains KIM).The Integrated Body Centre is in Dubai, UAE.
